The Caleido Tower or Fifth Tower of Madrid
In the heart of Madrid, the project that was once intended to be the Cuatro Torres Convention Centre has been transformed into Caleido, a complex that redefines the skyline and revitalises the city. After the original plan was halted in 2012, a large urban void was left. However, Caleido has now risen from those existing foundations, integrating a tower and a base that harmoniously dialogue with the neighbouring buildings, while also providing a human scale and a more pleasant environment.

Caleido was created with three main objectives: to generate a new centrality north of Paseo de la Castellana, to connect the Cuatro Torres with the surrounding area, and to offer a large green space of more than 33,000 m². With two key elements—a tower and a base—the complex houses a diverse programme: commercial and leisure spaces, a sports clinic, a university campus, and office areas. Its mixed structure is notable for its two concrete cores and clad metal pillars, which allow for a large opening on the ground floor, offering a spacious and welcoming lobby.

The ventilated glass façade and its dark colour not only add elegance to the building, but also improve energy efficiency, optimising climate control according to the season. Finally, on 19 October 2021, the main headquarters of IE University will be inaugurated in the imposing IE Tower in Caleido, culminating a project that not only changes the landscape, but also connects and inspires.
