What is a Health and Safety Study (ESS)

The Health and Safety Study is the document that defines the appropriate preventive measures for the risks involved in carrying out construction work, providing the site with the ideal conditions for health and safety and protection from occupational hazards.

Regulated by the Royal Decree 1627/1997 of 24 October 1997,The document is a mandatory document for many construction sites and the best guarantee to prevent risks, protect all equipment and comply with current regulations.

When is it compulsory to
Health and Safety Study

The promoter is obliged to contract an ESS when:

  •  The budget for the execution of the work exceeds 450.000 €
  • The duration of the work exceeds 30 working days and employ more than 20 employees simultaneously.
  • The total workload exceeds 50 days.
  • The work includes tunnels, tunnels, galleries, underground pipelines or dams.
